Tributes Pour In for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Are Sealed.
More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community are still paying respects to the couple.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's 1987 classic *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he just recently felt prepared to express about his personal sorrow.
"Sufficient time has passed that I can finally express my sorrow into words," wrote Elwes, noting that his initial encounter with Reiner left him smitten. "When we commenced passing more hours together I knew this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor shared behind-the-scenes footage from the film, commenting that he doesn't recollect "any day without laughter".
"The movie is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. This is one of the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, noting: "Asserting that they were a formidable pair would be an understatement. My heart still hurts every time I remember you." He concluded with a line from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Colleague and Comrade
In a different piece, legendary director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a virtuoso at comedy, he worked beautifully with his co-stars, and he understood the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese noted.
Court Proceedings: Autopsy Reports Restricted
This week, a Los Angeles court official agreed to prevent the release of the Reiners' autopsy reports, following a petition from the LAPD.
A court order put a restriction on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "related notes, notes, reports or photos" connected to the probe.
The coroner's office had earlier stated their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a official listing listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Aftermath and Reactions
After the tragedy, public personalities expressed different comments.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering controversial statements that were broadly criticized by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his voice to the detractors last week. Talking on his podcast, Rogan described the remarks as "disappointing" and suggested they revealed a worrisome absence of compassion.
Rogan ended by proposing that an adviser ought to have stepped in when the impulse to speak on the tragedy was made.
