Edwards and O'Neil represent the initial names in the frame to succeed Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolves.

Pereira was sacked on Sunday after the squad's 10-match without a victory beginning to the top-flight season.

Furthermore both candidates - both of who have previous associations to the team - are among the options to be evaluated by the club ownership.

Edwards is currently at another club, which would create a potential obstacle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

Nevertheless the ex- Luton Town head coach - who played more than 100 of games for the club during his time as a player - is said to be a leading candidate for the position.

The 42-year-old is said to have backing from the club board as they begin the search of hiring a new manager.

O'Neil is additionally appearing as a unexpected contender, even though he would be a surprising appointment given he was released by Wolves in December last year.

The former West Ham United midfielder is out of work meaning Wolves would not need to pay any compensation.
