Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement Wednesday night confirming they are aware of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and were in contact with the league office.

The organization omitted the name of Rice specifically in their announcement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete by name, posted a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. Jones did say the person involved was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the team selected in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that resulted in multiple people hurt. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went 6-11 and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
