British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Nigeria Following Deadly Car Crash
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday night. The athlete was involved in a car accident near Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, his promoter confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” the commissioner stated.
Remembering the Victims
The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the loss of his two close friends.”
The news of his discharge arrives after the global fight fans had expressed its support for the champion in the following the heartbreaking incident.
