Barça Set to Play First Fixture at Upgraded Camp Nou on Saturday

Barcelona have announced they are set to host at the partially upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend. They will welcome Athletic Bilbao in La Liga over two years after they moved out to allow renovations to start.

“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”

Not all seats will be available though over 45,000 attendees are permitted inside under the licence granted. After final construction, the Camp Nou is due to hold almost 105,000 spectators, increasing from the former 99,000. Officials confirmed completed upgrades featured a renovated tunnel for players along with upgraded changing facilities.

Stadium Testing

Barça organized an open training session on the home pitch in early November. Officials stated they were hoping for permission from European football’s governing body to play their next home Champions League game versus the German side in December in the renovated venue. Previous fixtures took place at the Olympic Stadium.
