Arne Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it was expected for doubts to be asked about his position after a further convincing defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool endured their ninth loss in twelve games, marking the club's poorest run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing night at their home ground.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I've received a lot of support from the top,” the coach commented.

“It would be great to change things and secure a win of course but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it's typical that people question you.”

He noted, “I am OK with my role. It is not the first time I’ve been in a tough spot but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Talks with Liverpool Hierarchy

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the team officials, Slot explained:

“We communicate frequently. They are helpful for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they aren't calling me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “During our regular conversations we have I perceive the confidence. But I've not talked to them since this match so far so we'll see.”

Recurring Failings and Squad Reaction

Slot lamented known shortcomings from his squad in their Champions League loss, specifically poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones remarked.

“It is not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the phrases.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the team I support. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team experiencing a period such as this with results this poor.”

He finished, “However we continue to wear the crest on our shirts. And until it is gone, we will always compete.”

“Our aim is to help the side return to where it needs to be, show everyone once more what Liverpool stands for and the reason it's called the top club in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
